800 MW solar and wind power plants to be built in Kazakhstan

Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, and Lin Xiaodan, Chairman of the Management Board of China Energy, discussed the implementation of joint projects in the field of renewable energy. 

Specifically, the construction of a 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region and a 500 MW wind power plant in the Karaganda region.

The parties noted significant progress in project implementation and reviewed issues related to establishing a project company for the construction of the solar power plant. The meeting also covered the approval of key project documents, including the Investment Agreement (IA) and the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which are essential for further project execution.

Particular attention was given to the solar power plant project with an energy storage system in the Turkestan region. Currently, the completion of design and survey work is expected, with construction set to begin in September 2025 and commissioning scheduled for late 2026.
