The final investment decision on the electrification of the Sangachal terminal has entered its completion stage, Tamam Bayatli, head of BP-Azerbaijan’s press service, told journalists.
Bayatli explained that under the project, electricity generated at the Shafag Solar Power Plant (SPP) will be sold to Azerenerji OJSC in Jabrayil: "In return, through the virtual energy transmission mechanism, Azerenerji will supply us with an equivalent amount of electricity in Baku, ensuring the electrification of the Sangachal terminal," she stated.
Bayatli emphasized that the electrification of the terminal will not only reduce natural gas consumption but also minimize environmental impact. "The amount of emissions released into the atmosphere will be significantly reduced as part of the project," she noted.
