Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed the status of the “Azerbaijan–Central Asia” green energy corridor.

According to Report, citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, the topic was addressed during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov.

“The status of the project to create a ‘Green Energy Corridor’ across the Caspian Sea in cooperation with Azerbaijan was reviewed, with a practical step being the establishment on July 1, 2025, of the joint venture ‘Yaşıl Dəhliz Birliyi,’” the ministry stated.

The parties also conducted a detailed alignment on the implementation of bilateral “roadmaps” and discussed progress on joint projects. Special attention was given to regional electricity projects, including the construction of the Kambarata-1 hydropower plant, where Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan act as strategic partners.

The meeting participants emphasized their readiness to maintain active dialogue at the level of relevant ministries to advance all joint energy initiatives, noting strong cooperation in the oil and gas sector and the stable operation of gas transportation systems. Notably, in the first seven months of 2025, Kazakh gas transit through Uzbekistan amounted to 921.7 million cubic meters, while prospective volumes of Russian gas supplies could reach 11 billion cubic meters by 2026.

As reported, the “Azerbaijan–Central Asia” energy cable across the Caspian will become part of a broader project to build an energy bridge from Central Asia through the Black and Caspian Seas to Europe for the transportation of green energy.
