The results of the auction for the construction of a wind power plant (WPP) with a total installed capacity of 50 MW in the Western Zone of the Unified Power System (UPS) of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been officially announced.
The auction, held on May 28, 2025, aimed to select renewable energy projects for wind power development. A total of seven companies were admitted to participate in the trading session, during which 35 price bids were submitted. The combined volume of proposed projects reached 300 MW - six times the announced capacity.
The ceiling price for the auction was set at 22.68 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). During the session, bid prices ranged from 22.68 to 12.30 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT), reflecting strong competition among participants.
Following the results of the trading session, Green Energy Industrial Company Aktobe LLP was announced as the auction winner. The company’s project, with an installed capacity of 50 MW, was selected at the lowest bid price of 12.30 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, and the Kazakhstan Association of Oil, Gas and Energy Sector Organizations “KazEnergy” were present during the session. Observers confirmed the transparency and integrity of the electronic trading platform operated by KOREM JSC, the official auction organizer.
The next auction for renewable energy projects is scheduled for June 16, 2025, and will focus on the selection of solar power plant (SPP) projects in the Western Zone, with a total installed capacity of 30 MW.
