As part of the Summer School organized for students enrolled in the 2024/2025 academic year of the international Dual Degree Master’s Program in “Renewable Energy” between the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and the University of Warwick (UK), another excursion has taken place. Within the program, the students visited the Rheidol HydroPower Station, the largest facility of its kind in England and Wales. The excursion was led by University of Warwick professor Maria Tareen, with ASOIU faculty member Mahmud Ismayilov also accompanying the group.

During the site visit, the students observed first-hand the management of hydroelectric processes and gained a deeper understanding of the practical operation of renewable energy systems. They became closely acquainted with the complex control mechanisms of hydrotechnical equipment such as water turbines and generators, expressing their admiration for the scale and technical capabilities of the infrastructure.

This excursion provided an opportunity for students to reinforce the theoretical knowledge they had acquired from textbooks and online resources with practical observations. As the second field visit of the Summer School, it broadened the students’ perspectives on.
