Donald Trump has pledged to introduce policy to halt the construction of wind turbines.
The President-elect said in a press conference yesterday: “We are going to have a policy where no windmills are being built.”
He added: “They litter our country. Nobody wants them and they are very expensive.
"It's the most expensive energy there is. It's many, many times more expensive than clean natural gas.”
The comments are the latest from Trump who has long been opposed to onshore and offshore wind.
He has in the past vowed to sign an executive order on day one of his presidency targeting the sector.
Last week, Trump took aim at the UK’s energy policy and said the country should not build more offshore turbines.
Trump said yesterday he will reverse the Biden administration’s ban on offshore drilling and also said he would rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
He will be sworn in for a second term as president on 20 January.
