In 2024, over 10,800 Uzbek citizens received state subsidies under the "Solar Home" program. Launched by the Tax Committee in April 2023, the program compensates households for feeding surplus electricity—generated by rooftop solar panels—into the national grid. This initiative supports the development of green energy while providing families with additional income.
Total payouts under the program in 2024 reached 12.18 billion soums ($942,800). The majority—7.37 billion soums—was disbursed in the second half of the year, highlighting the initiative’s growing popularity. With a tariff of 1,000 soums per kilowatt-hour, program participants collectively generated and supplied 12.18 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid.
The Khorezm region led in total payments, receiving 2.8 billion soums, followed by Karakalpakstan (1.9 billion soums) and Tashkent (1.4 billion soums).
Uzbekistan introduced subsidies for solar panel owners in February 2023. Payments are transferred to bank cards via the Soliq app by the 25th of the month following the reporting period. Additionally, in August 2023, the government exempted photovoltaic panel components from import duties and VAT.
