The Rusnano Group has announced the launch of Russia’s first facility for the production of flexible solar modules, located in the Republic of Mordovia. According to reports by Overclockers, the production will utilize CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) thin-film technology, which involves vacuum deposition of the semiconductor materials.
The plant is expected to produce flexible solar modules with a total annual output capacity of 10 megawatts. Rusnano has not disclosed the level of localization in the module manufacturing process.
Rusnano sees the primary application of flexible solar modules in the housing and utilities sector. These modules are well-suited for such use due to their lightweight design, ability to perform efficiently even in low light conditions, and minimal impact on building structures and aesthetics.
