The next meeting of the Working Group on connection to power supply grids was held in Azerbaijan

A report-oriented meeting of the Working Group on connection to power supply grids of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings was held via videoconference. The meeting focused on reviewing the outcomes of 2024.
Opening the meeting, the Head of the Working Group and Deputy Minister of Energy, Samir Valiyev, presented the agenda, highlighted the achievements in the respective field during the current year, and emphasized the importance of efficiently implementing upcoming tasks to strengthen Azerbaijan's position in international rankings.
In his speech, the Head of the Commission Secretariat, Vusal Shikhaliev, stated:
"The reforms implemented and the electronic services introduced in the area of connecting to the electricity network have positively impacted the business environment's attractiveness and contributed to improving international ratings in this sector. Strengthening the achievements made and pursuing improvements in new directions remain among the primary priorities."
First Deputy Chairman of "Azerishiq" OJSC, Ramil Yusifov, discussed the digitization and optimization measures implemented in the connection to the power supply network. He noted that these efforts will be further expanded next year and that regular communication with both entrepreneurs and the general public will continue.
In line with the meeting's agenda, information was provided on the implementation status of measures aimed at improving the business environment as outlined in the 2024 Roadmap for the "Utilities (Electricity)" indicator of the World Bank's "Business Ready" report. The draft of the 2025 Roadmap was also discussed, and participants thoroughly analyzed the proposed measures to further optimize the electricity connection process.
The measures implemented to ensure transparency in the electricity connection process and to enhance the awareness of entrepreneurs, as part of the Intensive Communication Plan, were reviewed.
Additionally, the diagnostic document on the responses provided to expert surveys related to the "Utilities (Electricity)" indicator was discussed.
The meeting, attended by representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Economy, and Digital Development and Transport, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, "Azerenerji" OJSC, "Azerishiq" OJSC, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, and the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency, evaluated proposals and recommendations regarding the implementation of upcoming tasks.
