A panel session titled “Regional Energy Connectivity and Green Transition: Challenges and Opportunities” was held as part of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, convened in Baku under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev. The session was moderated by Alessandro Viviani, Associate Partner at The European House – Ambrosetti (TEHA Group).
During the panel session, Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in strengthening regional energy connectivity and energy security between the South Caucasus, Europe and Central Asia. Information was also provided on renewable energy and green infrastructure projects.
The panel featured Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Elmir Musayev, General Director of SOCAR Green LLC; Luca Matrone, Head of Energy Industry, Global Corporate at Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy; Xiansheng Sun, Chairman of the ISETS Council, China; Ahmet Çalık, Chairman of Çalık Holding; and Tural Aliyev, General Director of Green Corridor Alliance.
The session focused on the development of favorable policy and regulatory frameworks to attract investment in renewable energy and green infrastructure projects, as well as expanding access to technology, equipment and financing for their implementation. The importance of developing cross-border energy projects, including green electricity transmission and the integration of regional energy markets, was emphasized. At the same time, discussions focused on maintaining energy security and industrial competitiveness while accelerating the green transition, as well as expanding the strategic partnership with Italy in the fields of energy and the green transition.
The Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum is being held in Baku under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev. Organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO, in strategic partnership with The European House – Ambrosetti, the Forum is dedicated to the theme “Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World: The South Caucasus as a Pillar of Global Connectivity and Investment Stability.”
