Azerbaijan’s renewable energy production more than doubles

Azerbaijan’s share of electricity generated from renewable sources in total electricity production more than doubled.

According to the “Energy of Azerbaijan” statistical yearbook, published by the State Statistical Committee, this indicator stood at 5.5% in 2020, rising to 13.5% in 2024.

The data show that the share of renewable energy in electricity production amounted to 5.8% in 2021, 6.7% in 2022, and 7.2% in 2023.

Also, the share of renewable energy in total energy supply was 2.2% in 2024. Based on the sources, hydropower accounted for 1.4%, biomass for 0.5%, and solar energy for 0.3%.

The publication also provides figures on the installed capacity of power plants and electricity generation. According to the official report, the share of renewable energy sources in the total installed capacity of electricity sources amounted to 20.2%.
