A 99 MW solar power plant built by a Chinese company has been connected to the grid in Croatia and has started generating electricity, People’s Daily Online reports.

The Korlat solar plant is now the largest operational solar facility in the country. It is expected to produce around 165 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of approximately 50,000 households.

The project is also projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 150,000 tonnes per year.

The launch of the facility marks a significant step in increasing the share of renewable energy in Croatia’s power mix and improving the overall efficiency of the national energy system.
