The development of an additional at least 350 MW of capacity at the 230 MW Garadagh Solar Power Plant (SPP) operated by the UAE’s Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) in Azerbaijan, as well as the addition of a battery energy storage system (BESS) of up to 200 MWh, will be explored.

The cooperation agreement between Masdar and Azerbaijan Green Energy Company (AGEC) on the development of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan was signed on September 14 as part of a meeting between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Adviser. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, and Khayala Naghiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of AGEC.
