JFE Engineering, part of JFE Holdings Inc, together with its partners, has put into operation a 112 MW biomass-fired power plant in Japan's Aichi Prefecture.
Leasing company Tokyo Century Corp (TYO:8439), Japanese utilities Chubu Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9502) and Toho Gas Co Ltd (TYO:9533) are the other companies involved in the Tahara Biomass Power Plant.
Located in Tahara City, the new renewable energy asset is expected to generate about 770 million kWh annually from wood pellets, enough to meet the demand of approximately 250,000 households.
JFE Engineering and Chubu Electric each hold a 40% stake in the biomass-fired plant, while Toho Gas and Tokyo Century each own 10%.
