Ocean Winds, the 50/50 joint venture of EDP Renovaveis and Engie, has selected Siemens Gamesa to supply the turbines for its 390-MW BC-Wind wind farm in Polish waters.

The contracts with Siemens Gamesa envisage the delivery and maintenance of 26 wind turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 14 MW and a power boost feature capable of increasing it to 15 MW.

The agreement is conditional and subject to Notice to Proceed (NtP) from Ocean Winds, the developer said today.

The installation and commissioning of the turbines are planned for 2028.

The logistics base for pre-assembly and load-out operations will be Terminal T5 in the Port of Gdańsk. Danish offshore wind installation company Cadeler A/S will be responsible for the transportation and installation of the turbines, utilising its O-class vessels.

The selection of the turbine supplier brings the project closer to contract finalisation and paves the way for a final investment decision (FID) to be made within this year, the company noted.

BC-Wind, part of Phase I of offshore development in the Polish Baltic Sea, is expected to produce first power in 2028, supplying electricity to about 488,000 households in Poland. It is located around 23 km off the coast of the Krokowa and Choczewo municipalities in the Pomeranian province.
