The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan has released data on electricity production by renewable energy sources (RES) for the first half of 2025.
According to the report, renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan generated a total of 4,237 million kWh of electricity in the first six months of the year.
Wind power plants made the largest contribution, generating 2,605.9 million kWh, which accounts for over 60% of total RES generation. Solar power plants produced 1,057.4 million kWh, small hydropower plants — 572 million kWh, and bio-power plants — 1.39 million kWh.
As of the end of June 2025, the total installed capacity of renewable energy facilities reached 3,122.12 MW, including:
· wind power plants – 1,570.05 MW
· solar power plants – 1,262.61 MW
· small hydropower plants – 287.685 MW
· bio-power plants – 1.77 MW
The share of renewable energy in the country’s total electricity production stood at 6.81%.
