Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said he held a comprehensive meeting with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, at the ministry.
Renewables.az informs that in a post on his X account, Bayraktar said they discussed the latest developments at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which has turned Türkiye’s 70-year nuclear energy ambition into reality, as well as the work underway to commission the plant’s first unit and the progress of the other three reactors.
Bayraktar said: “We will expand our nuclear energy drive, which began with Akkuyu, with new nuclear power plants in Sinop and Thrace, as well as small modular reactors. Our goal is to increase our nuclear energy capacity to 20,000 megawatts by 2050.”
