On the sidelines of Uzbekistan Energy Week 2026, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and UAE-based company AMEA Power have launched a series of major energy projects across the country, Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry reports.
Construction has begun in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent on a 150 MW (300 MWh) energy storage system valued at $86.1 million.
In addition, a further energy storage facility with a capacity of 200 MW (800 MWh) is planned in the Gijduvan district of Bukhara region, to be developed in partnership with the same company. The total cost of that project is estimated at $200 million.
Meanwhile, in the Kungrad district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a project is underway to build a 1,000 MW wind power plant alongside a 40-kilometre transmission line, with a total investment of $1.06 billion.
Together, these projects are aimed at further strengthening Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure, expanding the use of renewable energy sources and improving the stability of the country's power supply.
