From September 19–21, ACWA Power held its Central Asia Management Committee meeting in Azerbaijan, bringing together the company’s senior regional leadership — Abid Malik, Ahmad Abbas Mirza, Anthony Brinkhuizen, Jon Zaidi, Selim Güven, Ahsen Saeed, and Ahmad Fahad — to align on strategic priorities, strengthen collaboration, and advance the company’s regional growth objectives.
According to the company, as part of the visit, the delegation toured the construction site of the 240 MW Khizi–Absheron Wind Power Plant, one of ACWA Power’s flagship renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan. The project is a significant milestone in the country’s clean energy transition and plays an essential role in supporting Azerbaijan’s renewable energy targets. During the site visit, detailed briefings were provided on the project’s progress, implementation stages, and upcoming milestones.
A key highlight of the visit was the celebration of the Early Commercial Operation Date – Group 1 (ECOD1) for the Absheron site. ECOD1 marks the stage at which a portion of the project begins generating and delivering electricity to the grid ahead of full completion — reflecting the team’s dedication, professionalism, and strong collaboration.
To commemorate this achievement, ACWA Power’s leadership hosted a dinner to recognize and honor the contributions of the project company and EPC contractor teams, acknowledging their commitment and valuable efforts toward the project’s success.
