China wants trade restrictions on clean energy technologies to be a key topic at the COP31 climate summit, scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, in November.
Renewables.az reports, citing Reuters, that China's Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, Li Gao, called for discussions on protectionism and unilateral trade measures, alongside developed countries' insufficient emissions reductions and climate financing.
China, the world's largest producer of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries and electric vehicles, has faced increasing trade restrictions from the United States and the European Union.
Li also emphasized the need for a roadmap to deliver $300 billion annually in climate finance to developing countries.
Regarding Türkiye's proposal for a global electrification agreement, Li said the initiative aligned with China's policies but stopped short of expressing explicit support.
