Azerbaijan’s renewable energy sector employed 1,547 people in 2024, according to the IRENA Renewable Energy and Jobs: Annual Review 2025.
The largest share of jobs is in hydropower, with 617 people working at hydroelectric plants. The second-largest segment is the conversion of municipal and industrial waste into energy, employing 615 people.
In the wind energy sector, 267 people are employed, while the solar photovoltaic (PV) sector accounts for 36 jobs. Biogas operations employ 12 people.
Experts note that the implementation of large-scale renewable energy projects in the country is expected to further increase employment in the coming years.
