Azerbaijan and China Energy discuss cooperation on renewable energy projects

A meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the delegation led by Lu Xu, Vice-President of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited. At the meeting, discussions were held with the company on the implementation of projects on the agenda in accordance with the comprehensive strategic partnership in the energy sector.

The head of state's policy on developing renewable energy sources for the purposes of consumption and export, establishing of green energy zones and expanding cooperation with Chinese companies in this area was noted. It was emphasized that the multifaceted cooperation with China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited will give a new impetus to the development of renewable energy in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the importance of research carried out with China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) in identifying the potential for integration of new powers into the power grid, as well as the importance of establishing a Joint Research Center for Developing Green Energy were brought to the attention.

During the negotiations, the current state of cooperation on offshore wind projects with a capacity of 200 MW and onshore solar energy projects with a capacity of 160 MW was assessed and the next steps were determined. The company's activities in the construction and equipment of solar power plants with a total capacity of 760 MW in Bilasuvar and Neftchala were highly appreciated. In addition, the sides exchanged views on issues related to the development of electricity transmission projects between Azerbaijan and Central Asia, Türkiye and Europe and the possibilities of cooperation with the company.
