Azerbaijan and Oman to assess cooperation opportunities in solar panel and wind turbine production

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Economy the Sultanate of Oman Said bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Saqri held a meeting.

At the meeting, information was provided about Azerbaijan's historical experience in the field of oil production, its important role in energy security as a supplier of natural gas, as well as projects implemented in the direction of renewable energy production and export. Electricity, fiber-optic and hydrogen components of the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor were discussed. There was also an exchange of views on the creation of data centers and their supply with electricity, promotion of investments in this area.

During the conversation, sustainable investments in the oil and gas sector of Oman were noted. It was emphasized that this sector will remain important for both Oman and the world for a long time. It was noted that Oman is investing in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and aims to become one of the region’s leading exporters in this field. It was also stated that four large solar industrial parks are already operating in the country, with a target of meeting 40% of energy needs from renewable sources by 2040. Oman’s plan to produce 1 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030 was also highlighted.

During the meeting, it was agreed to define areas of cooperation within the framework of documents signed between the two countries in the oil and gas sector, as well as to assess opportunities for cooperation in the production of solar panels and wind turbines and across the entire energy sector.
