Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have discussed the implementation of the Green Corridor Alliance project at the UEW 2026 International Energy Forum in Tashkent, Renewables informs referring to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the three countries' energy agencies. The parties discussed the current status of the project, which aims to develop the production and transmission of green energy between Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Energy Bakytzhan Ilyas noted that the agreement signed by the heads of state of the three countries on the sidelines of the COP29 conference in Baku creates the foundation for the formation of a sustainable energy corridor and the expansion of clean electricity trade. The project envisages the efficient use of renewable energy potential, the development of interconnected energy systems, and the creation of conditions for the export of green electricity to Europe and other regions.
Meeting participants paid special attention to the expansion of energy infrastructure and the development of new power transmission lines to integrate the energy systems of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. The meeting participants also confirmed their interest in further advancing the project and continuing to coordinate joint efforts to develop a transregional green energy corridor.
The Kazakh Ministry of Energy recalled that on April 27, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law ratifying the agreement, reaffirming the country's commitment to developing a sustainable and interconnected energy infrastructure in the region.
