Joint events were held within the Phase 2 of the EU4Energy project

Within Phase 2 of EU4Energy project, Conference of the EU4Energy Phase II Programme  two-day media seminar were held jointly organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER).

Conference of EU4Energy Phase II: Recognising  Achievements in Azerbaijan’s Energy Sector at promoting the clean energy transition in the Eastern Partnership countries was held. The event brought together key stakeholders from the country’s energy sector to reflect on the achievements and lessons learned from the EU4Energy project.

“The EU remains committed to supporting Azerbaijan’s reform journey and to deepening our energy partnership through dialogue and shared commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more interconnected energy future”, said H. E. Marijana Kujundzic, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan in her welcome speech.

Mr Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency stated:“Our partnership with the European Union reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the green transition and enhancing regional interconnectivity. Azerbaijan is building a modern energy system that connects markets and supports a sustainable future.”

The event has equipped participants with a thorough understanding of the role of media in informing the public and fostering transparency in energy policies. Local and international experts shared their experiences on the key challenges, which Azerbaijan’s energy sector is facing and measures designed to address them.

Attendees have delved into crucial aspects of energy regulation, including energy sector structure, tariff setting, service quality, and energy efficiency, while also examining best practices from the EU.

This event has also emphasised the necessity for close collaboration between energy experts, policymakers, and the media to ensure effective communication.

It should be noted that the conference was organised in the framework of the EU4Energy Programme Phase II – Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries, which runs until 18 November 2025. The programme aims to contribute to the development of sound legislative and regulatory frameworks for energy, to support the region’s transition to clean energy and the liberalisation of its energy markets.

The EU4Energy initiative is funded by the European Union with a total budget of €8.5 million and is jointly implemented by CEER, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS).
