Cooperation in green energy is one of the most promising areas of partnership between our two countries.
This was stated by Khurram Teshabayev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, in an interview with Report.
According to him, practical work is already underway on projects to export electricity across the Caspian Sea using subsea infrastructure, as well as on the development of green hydrogen production with the aim of supplying European markets: "A major milestone was the signing by Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan of the Strategic Partnership Agreement on the Development and Transmission of Green Energy. To implement this initiative, the joint venture Green Corridor Union was established in Baku and is currently preparing the project's feasibility study. The project envisages the construction of new power generation capacity that will enable Uzbekistan to export between 2 GW and 5 GW of clean electricity to Europe in the future. These are undoubtedly large-scale and technically complex projects requiring substantial investment and close international coordination. At the same time, their strategic value is difficult to overstate. They will help integrate Central Asia and the South Caucasus into the European energy market, diversify export routes, and contribute to the global energy transition."
