A meeting on the assessment of efficiency potential in electricity and heat generation, as well as natural gas processing, was held at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of representatives from the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, the Gas Processing Plant, SOCAR UNIPER LLC, Azerenergy OJSC, Azeristiliktechizat OJSC, Tamiz Shahar OJSC, Azerbaijan Sugar Production Association LLC, the Umid Babek Operating Company, bp, and Shahdag Tourism Center JSC.
During the meeting, discussions were held on assessing the potential for efficiency with due consideration of technical feasibility and economic viability in order to prepare and implement energy efficiency measures aimed at the efficient use of energy resources, as well as to determine the amount of energy that can be saved. The proper completion of reports for this purpose was also discussed. Deputy Minister of energy Elnur Soltanov spoke about the importance of the law on the Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency and the rules for assessing the potential of energy efficiency in connection with the application of this law. Stressing that energy saving is one of the largest energy sources, he said that the efficient use of energy is of great importance for the sustainable development of our country. In this regard, the importance of energy efficiency reports was especially noted.
At the event, an exchange of views was held on the criteria related to the evaluation rules and the points contained in the reports, and relevant recommendations were made.
