Slovenia supports the implementation of the Black Sea Energy submarine power cable project and is open to exploring possible forms of participation, Slovenia’s Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy told Report.
The ministry emphasized that one of the promising areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan is the development of green energy.
“Promoting cooperation in the field of renewable energy and other clean technologies, including hydrogen, is one of the goals of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the energy ministries of Slovenia and Azerbaijan on April 4, 2025,” the ministry stated.
Slovenia also supports the investment activity of Slovenian companies in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) both domestically and abroad, including in Azerbaijan.
The ministry noted that Slovenian energy companies, especially transmission system operators (TSOs), have established themselves as innovators in smart grids.
“We support all forms of cooperation in the field of smart grids, hydrogen energy, energy storage systems, and RES integration into the power system. These areas can also involve the participation of research institutes, including partnerships with Azerbaijan,” the ministry added.
Slovenia also welcomes the deepening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union in the field of hydrogen and expressed its readiness for further discussions to expand this collaboration.
“We look forward to further discussions on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the energy sector,” the ministry stated.
The ministry also praised Azerbaijan’s successful presidency of the COP29 conference, emphasizing the country's leadership in renewable energy and its excellent position to actively engage with IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency).
