An investment agreement was signed at the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Rooftop LLC, covering a project to equip enterprises and other energy consumers with solar panels with a total capacity of 2,000 MW, according to the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan.
The project is aimed at accelerating the country's energy independence, developing green energy, reducing the capacity deficit in the energy system and establishing a sustainable mechanism for investment cooperation in the solar energy sector.
The initiative is aligned with the goals of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030 and the Investment Attraction Strategy until 2040.
Under the project, an additional 2,000 MW of energy capacity will be created, with annual electricity generation expected to reach 3.5 billion kWh. Up to $1 billion in direct investment will be attracted, and more than 500 new jobs will be created. The project will also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the environmental situation in the country.
The project will additionally enable enterprises to independently supply themselves with electricity, feeding surplus energy into the national grid. This will help reduce the load on power networks, improve energy efficiency and increase the country's export potential.
Under the terms of the agreement, at least 80% of employees will be recruited from among Tajik citizens, and favorable conditions will be created for training highly qualified specialists in the sector.
