Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Türkiye`s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar within the 5th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Energy of the Organization of Turkic States in Istanbul.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of energy cooperation over the past year. The current status of cooperation on hydrocarbon, renewable energy and regional energy connectivity projects was discussed. It was noted that 594 million kWh of electricity was exported from Azerbaijan to Türkiye during the ten months of this year. In light of the growing demand for electricity in Türkiye, the importance of establishing electricity interconnectors between the two countries was emphasized. In this regard, the implementation of the Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan) -Türkiye Energy Junction project directly from Nakhchivan and through the Zangazur Corridor was considered. Also, cooperation opportunities with Türkiye within the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor were assessed. It was noted that these projects will contribute to strengthening energy ties in the OTS format.
