The initial list of electricity infrastructure projects to be evaluated under the next Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) has been published. TYNDP 2026 Portfolio included the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects. In total, this portfolio includes 178 transmission and 49 storage projects.

These projects were presented by project promoters during the first application phase held in April-May 2025. ENTSO-E checked all applications for compliance with the admission criteria for TYNDP 2026 and confirmed that the Green Energy Corridor project covering Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary also meets the requirements. In the next phase, the second application window was open from 15 September to 15 October 2025 and aimed at projects in the idea phase. All submitted projects will undergo administrative and technical review in November 2025. A cost-benefit analysis will be conducted for all projects included in the TYNDP 2026 portfolio throughout 2026.  The results will be announced at the end of 2026.

It should be noted that the Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary in the field of Development and Transmission of Green Energy was signed on 17 December 2022 in Bucharest. The responsible body for the implementation of the project is the Green Energy Corridor Energy Company (GECO). Up to date, 10 Ministerial Meeting/Steering Committee have been held. The feasibility study of the project is being carried out by the company CESI.
