Construction has begun on a 125 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Navahi, Azerbaijan.

Renewables.az reports that Baba Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of AzerEnergy OJSC, announced this in an article published in Khalg Gazeti (Xalq Qəzeti) newspaper.

It should be noted that in December 2025, Azerbaijan launched the construction of its first battery energy storage facilities — the 125 MW / 250 MWh Absheron and 125 MW / 250 MWh Aghdash Battery Energy Storage Centers, with a combined power capacity of 250 MW and a total energy storage capacity of 500 MWh.

A contract for the construction of the battery energy storage facilities was signed between AzerEnergy OJSC and Türkiye's YEO Teknoloji Enerji ve Endüstri A.Ş.
