A meeting was held between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and Marius-Gabriel Lazurca, Adviser for National Security to the President of Romania.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the energy sector plays a key role in advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries. Oil and natural gas supplies, as well as SOCAR's extensive operations in Romania, were highlighted as clear indicators of the high level of cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector.
It was noted that the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor project will further strengthen this cooperation by expanding it into the electricity sector. Marius-Gabriel Lazurca stressed that the project is of strategic importance not only for the participating countries but also for the energy security and sustainable development of the European Union as a whole. He noted that, within the framework of this initiative, Azerbaijan serves as one of Europe's key energy partners.
The parties were informed that the results of the project's feasibility study are expected to be presented in the near future. It was also noted that the Green Energy Corridor will generate long-term economic and energy benefits for both producer countries such as Azerbaijan and consumer countries including Romania, Hungary, and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
The meeting also reviewed Romania's recent developments in the energy sector and assessed prospects for further cooperation.
