Turkish energy company YEO Teknoloji has signed a USD 9.54 million turnkey contract with Azerenerji OJSC for the installation of a 40 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

According to Renewables.az, YEO announced the agreement.

Under the contract, YEO will undertake the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the energy storage system, as well as related grid works and the integration of the BESS with an existing solar power plant.

It is worth noting that Azerenerji OJSC had previously signed a USD 90.5 million contract with YEO Teknoloji for BESS projects being developed in Absheron and Aghdash, with a combined power capacity of 250 MW and an energy storage capacity of 500 MWh. The BESS projects were constructed by ReapG, a company established through a partnership between YEO Teknoloji’s subsidiary Reap Battery and Great Power, a Chinese battery manufacturer ranked among the world’s leading Tier 1 battery producers.

It is worth recalling that on August 12, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced that a battery energy storage system with a capacity of at least 100 megawatts would be established in Nakhchivan in the first phase.
