Azerenerji OJSC and Türkiye-based YEO Teknoloji Enerji ve Endüstri A.Ş. have signed an agreement for the construction of a 250 MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
According to Renewables.az, citing YEO, the project will be implemented under an EPC-F model covering engineering, procurement, construction, and financing. The turnkey project has a total value of USD 58.6 million. Financing will be provided by local banks, with the loan expected to be repaid over a four-year period.
As part of the project, YEO will undertake the engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the battery systems, Power Conversion System (PCS), Battery Management System (BMS), and Energy Management System (EMS).
In addition, YEO will construct a high-voltage substation and ensure the integration of the facility into the electricity grid. Construction is expected to begin in the near future, while the energy storage system is planned to be fully operational within one year.
The batteries to be used in the project will be manufactured by REAP Battery, a company within the YEO Group.
