The Derbent solar power plant with an installed capacity of 102.3 MW has been commissioned in the Republic of Dagestan, becoming the largest solar energy project in the region, the press service of the Republic’s Ministry of Energy and Tariffs reported.
The facility has entered full commercial operation and started supplying electricity to the unified power system of southern Russia.
The project was implemented by UK Novaya Energiya LLC under a large-scale investment agreement with the regional authorities. To support construction, the government of Dagestan provided the investor with a 305-hectare land plot on a lease basis without auction and facilitated access to the required infrastructure.
The plant’s projected annual generation amounts to approximately 160 million kWh, accounting for around 3% of the total electricity produced by all power stations in Dagestan.
Total investment in the project reached RUB 10.9 billion. At the peak of construction, 200 jobs were created. The facility now provides permanent employment for 25 qualified specialists.
