Garabagh and East Zangezur have been declared green energy zones, and Nakhchivan is also a green energy zone, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with Azerbaijan Television in Nakhchivan, Renewables.az reports, citing the Presidential Press Service.
"Most of the energy generated here today comes from renewable sources. We have already established two 250-megawatt battery energy storage systems. I issued instructions to install a battery energy storage system of at least 100 megawatts in Nakhchivan as well during the first stage. Because renewable energy is also generated here, through solar and hydropower plants. Therefore, to store this energy, we must make use of these modern technologies."
