The next hybrid-format meeting of the Green Energy Space Working Group, established to ensure the implementation of measures envisaged in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026 and to coordinate the activities of relevant state bodies, has held.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev, who chaired the meeting, underlined that in line with the Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 2 February 2021, the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026, approved by the Head of State, plays a crucial role in ensuring economic growth, including in the energy sector, and in achieving the set targets. The importance of the Green Energy Space goal in terms of energy security, the use of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, the application of green technologies, and combating climate change was emphasized. Referring to the draft initial implementation report of the Strategy, he noted that the outcomes achieved during the reporting period were satisfactory and drew attention to the agenda items under consideration.
Subsequently, Deputy Chair of the Working Group, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) Ramil Huseyn, presented the report for the first half of 2025 on the implementation of the measures envisaged under goal 5.2 – Green Energy Space – of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026. The report covered the activities carried out, monitoring and evaluation results, progress against target indicators, as well as key challenges and recommendations.
At the end, members of the Working Group shared their opinions and proposals regarding the initial monitoring and evaluation report. The current status of ongoing measures and the next steps were discussed, and relevant instructions were given to ensure the full and effective implementation of measures in the upcoming period.
It should be noted that alongside the Ministry of Energy and CAERC, the Working Group includes representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Emergency Situations, as well as the State Statistics Committee, State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, State Customs Committee, SOCAR, the Central Bank, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, State Water Resources Agency, Azerenergy, Azerishig, and Azeristiliktechizat JSCs.
